The following process is only available to Grand Lodge Read/Write users. If you are a Lodge Secretary and need to enter a foreign event, please contact your Grand Secretary's office.
Entering events from Grand Lodges other than your own, also known as “Foreign Jurisdictions” can be confusing and if done incorrectly can result in the infamous Years in Good Standing (YGS) error, better known as a “999”. By following these instructions, you will be able to enter Foreign Events quickly, without causing errors.
It is important to remember that terminology and procedure will vary from Grand Lodge to Grand Lodge, so you may need to find the closest match based on the event and status of the foreign lodge as compared to your Grand Lodge’s available events and statuses.
For example, a member who belongs to the Grand Lodge of Kansas may “Demit” from a lodge, whereas a member of the Grand Lodge of Illinois would “Plural Withdraw” from a lodge in Illinois. While these events are essentially the same, the terminology is different, so the way you enter them on a member’s record may be different. If you are unsure, consult your Grand Secretary or the Groupable Support Team.
