Show your status with a QR code
Connect shows a QR code that stands for your member number. A QR code is a square pattern of dots that a phone camera can read. Someone at your meeting scans it to check your status.
You need a Connect login and a member number on file with your organization.
-
Log in to Connect. If you need help, see Get Started with Connect.
-
On a phone, tap the menu icon (three short lines) at the top left. Under My links, tap My Feed. On a computer, click My Feed in the menu on the left.
-
Find the card called Share Member Status. It holds the QR code. On a phone, it is near the top of the page. On a computer, it is in the column on the right.
-
Hold your phone so the person can scan the code with their phone's camera or a QR reader app.
If you don't see this: The Share Member Status card appears only when your organization has a member number on file for you. Ask your secretary to check that a member number is on file and that your Connect login is linked to your membership.
What the person scanning sees
When the person scans your code, their phone offers to open a web page. They do not need to log in or have a Connect account.
The page shows your organization's name at the top. Below it, the page shows your first name, the first letter of your last name, and your member status as your organization names it. Under that, a box for a member number and a Check Status button let the same page check another member.
Get Groupable Passport and add your card
Groupable Passport is a separate phone app. You don't open it from Connect. It holds your digital dues card, which shows your member information and dues year. Not every organization uses it.
You need your member number and your birth date as your organization has them on file.
- On an iPhone, open the App Store and get Groupable Passport. On an Android phone, open the Google Play Store and get Groupable Passport.
- Open the app and follow its prompts to add your dues card.
- When the app asks, enter your member number and your birth date.
Passport shows your card only while your status is active in your organization.
If you don't see this: If the app says your organization "hasn't set up digital dues cards yet," your organization doesn't use Passport. Contact your organization or your secretary.
What your dues card shows
Your card gets its details from your organization's records. It shows:
- your name and member number
- how long you have been a member, when your organization has that on file
- the name of your local group and your local group's secretary
- Lifetime Member, or Life or Honorary, when that applies to you
- the year your dues are paid through
- the title, statement, seal and signature your organization has set up for its cards
If you belong to more than one local group, the app can show a card for each one that gives dues cards.
The card's QR code opens the same status page described in What the person scanning sees.
The dues year on your card
| If this is you | Your card shows |
|---|---|
| A life member | The current year. In December, it switches to the next year. |
| A member whose membership type has no annual dues, and whose local group keeps dues records | Your local group's current dues year |
| Anyone else | The most recent dues year your local group recorded for you, as long as it is this year or one of the two years before |
| Anyone with no dues payment recorded in that time | No Dues Info |
If your card says No Dues Info and you have paid, ask your secretary to check that your payment is recorded.
Pay your dues from your card
Your card can link to the payment screen for your local group in Connect. The link appears only when your local group accepts online payments through Connect.
- Open Groupable Passport and tap your card.
- Tap the link to pay your dues online.
- When Connect asks you to log in, log in with your Connect login. You must be logged in to make payments.
- Follow the steps on the payment screen. For those steps, see Pay Your Dues or Make a Donation.
If you don't see this: If your card has no payment link, your local group doesn't take online payments through Connect. Ask your secretary how to pay.
Use your card where there is no signal
The details on your card stay good for 24 hours after the app last loaded them. If your meeting place has no Wi-Fi or phone signal, open Groupable Passport and look at your card before you leave, while you still have a connection.
If the app says your member number does not match
The message reads "Member number does not match any records." Passport finds your card only when your member number and your birth date match what your organization has on file, and your member status is active.
- Check that you typed your member number and birth date correctly.
- If you did, contact your secretary. Ask them to check your member number, birth date and status on file.
Contact your secretary the same way if your card is missing from the app.
