Dues setup and collection in groupable:m2 is simple, but depends on grasping a couple of simple concepts:
Groupable:m2 has a concept of member types that is separate from the kind of member (e.g., Master Mason) the member is. A Member Type in groupable|m2 is defined by the lodge and keeps track of the total of Lodge Dues and Per Capita that members of that "member type" pay annually. Most members will pay the full dues and per capita and this member type is often referred to as "Regular". Other common member types include:
- Life - Members who have paid into some type of endowment program and are therefore exempt from dues payments.
- Hardship - Members who are going through a temporary hardship where the lodge has voted to exempt them from lodge dues
- 50 Years - Some jurisdictions exempt 50-year members from dues.
What your local group's member types are should be more or less outlined in your bylaws.
Dues Rate
The Dues Rate for Member Type: “Dues Owed” equals the total amount owed to the Local Group inclusive of dues, dinner fees, coat check fees, parking fees, parent group fees, assessment fees, etc.
Groupable:m2 treats dues for the most recent year as Dues and past years as Arrears. When you setup your Annual Dues, any outstanding Dues are automatically moved to Arrears.
Note: New Dues for each member are determined by their Member Type at the time Dues are set up. Changing the amount for the Member Types will not take effect until the next time Dues are set up for the next year.
