This guide is for anyone who forgot a password or a username, or who sees a message on the login screen and isn't sure what it means. The reset works even if you don't remember your username.
Before you start
You need your username or your member number. A member number typically starts with a letter, is 7 characters long, and is printed on your dues card. The reset screen doesn't take an email address.
You also need to be able to open email or text messages at an address or number on your member record. Groupable sends the reset link to the email addresses on that record and texts it to the phone numbers. Only a cell phone can receive the text.
Reset your password
- Open your organization's Groupable site.
- If you land on a Connect page instead of a login screen, click sign in / create account at the top right of the page. On a phone, tap the person icon there instead. You can also click the Sign In / Create Account button on the page.
-
On the login screen, click Forgot your password? under the Log In button.
-
On the Request Password Reset screen, fill in one box. Type your username in the top box, which says Username you signed up with. Or type your member number in the bottom box, which says Member number from dues card. If you fill in both, the screen asks you to fill in only one.
-
Click Request Password Reset.
- Groupable says "Please check your email or text messages for a link to reset your password."
- Open the message. The email has the subject "groupable Password Recovery" and comes from support@moriapp.com. It also shows your username. The text message starts with "Tap to reset your password" and gives a link, but it doesn't show your username. If you forgot your username and only got the text, ask your local group's secretary. Your username is in the User Account section of your member record, and in your welcome email.
- Click Reset your Password in the email, or the link in the text message.
- On the Recover Your Password screen, type a new password of at least 8 characters in the Password box. Type it again in the Confirm Password box.
- Click Reset Password. If a message under a box says the password is too short or doesn't match, fix it and click Reset Password again.
- Groupable opens the login screen and shows "Your password has been reset." Log in with your username and your new password.
How long the link lasts
The link works for 24 hours, and it works one time. If you ask for a reset more than once, only the newest link works. If you remember your old password and log in before you use the link, the link stops working too.
An old, used, or expired link takes you back to the Request Password Reset screen. Ask for a new one.
If no message arrives
Wait a few minutes. Then check your junk, spam, and trash folders for a message from support@moriapp.com, and add that address to your contacts. See How to Safelist the system emails? and Why am I not receiving emails?.
Groupable doesn't send to an email address that's marked as not working. If nothing reaches any email address or cell phone you use, ask your local group's secretary to check the email addresses and cell phone number on your member record.
Your local group's secretary, or your parent group's office, can also send a reset for you. They open your member record and click Send Password Reset in the User Account section. If your account isn't enabled yet, that section shows Resend Welcome Message instead. See Invite a Member to Create an Account or Reset a Password.
If you never enabled your account, the reset screen sends your welcome message instead of a reset link. The screen still says it sent a reset link. Click Enable your Account in the welcome message. If you remember your password, log in. If you don't, click Forgot your password? on the login screen and ask again. Your account is enabled now, so this time Groupable sends a reset link.
What the messages mean
On the login screen:
| What the screen says | What to do |
|---|---|
| "login invalid" | Groupable can't match that username and password. Check that Caps Lock is off, because passwords must match exactly. Click the eye button to see what you typed. Make sure you're on your own organization's Groupable site. If your password is shorter than 8 characters, or it still fails, reset your password with the steps above. |
| "This account is locked." | Reset your password. A completed reset clears the lock. |
| "This account is not enabled." | You haven't used the link in your welcome message. See "Enable your account" in Create Your Groupable Account. |
| "Access denied" | Groupable doesn't show you as an active member, and a reset won't change that. Ask your local group's secretary to check your membership status. |
| "This user has no defined roles." | You get this on the login screen if your account has no active role and your organization doesn't use Connect. Ask your local group's secretary or your parent group's office about your access. |
To see who can log in at all, read Give a Member Access to M2 and Connect.
Some older accounts still have a password shorter than 8 characters. On some of them, typing it correctly takes you straight to the Recover Your Password screen with the message "Your current password doesn't meet the 8-character minimum. Reset your password now." Type a new password twice and click Reset Password. On others you see "login invalid" even though the password is right.
On the Request Password Reset screen, each message starts with the box name, either Username or Member number. Several messages can run together with "and".
| The message under the box includes | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Does not match an existing account." | This site has no account with that username or member number. Check the spelling, and check that you're on your own organization's site. If you've never made an account, see Create Your Groupable Account. |
| "No email address or phone number on file." | Groupable has nowhere to send the link. Ask your local group's secretary to add an email address or cell phone number to your member record. If this is an organization-level account rather than a member account, an administrator in your organization can set a new password. See Manage Another User's Account. |
| "Only fill in username or member number" | Clear one of the two boxes and click Request Password Reset again. |
| "Must have username or member number filled in" | Fill in one of the two boxes. |
| "This is an organization level account. Please contact your organization's administrator to have your password reset." | This account isn't tied to a member record, so you can't reset it yourself. An administrator in your organization can set a new password on the account. See Manage Another User's Account. |
When both boxes are empty, or both are full, you also see "Does not match an existing account." It goes away once you fill in one box.
If the link runs out while the Recover Your Password screen is open, clicking Reset Password brings you back to the same screen and your password doesn't change. Open your organization's Groupable site, click Forgot your password? on the login screen, and ask for a new link.
Username and password rules
A username has 5 to 50 characters and no spaces. A password has at least 8 characters. Groupable checks these rules when you create or change a username or password. Use a mix of letters and numbers in a password, as the screen suggests.
An older username that's shorter than 5 characters still logs in, because the rule applies only when a username is created or changed. If you have a management role in M2, you can change your own username or password after you log in. See Update Your Account Settings. If you only use Connect, change your password with the reset steps above.
If you still can't log in, click the help button in the bottom right corner of the login screen to contact Groupable support.
