Processing Fees
Why Fees Exist
Credit card companies and payment processors charge fees to process transactions. Your lodge may:
- Pass the fee to you (you pay slightly more)
- Absorb the fee (lodge pays it)
- Split the fee
Typical fees:
- Credit card: 2-3% of transaction
- ACH/bank account: $0.50 - 1% of transaction
Understanding Fee Display
Invoice might show:
- Dues: $100.00
- Processing fee: $3.00
- Total: $103.00
Or:
- Dues (includes fee): $100.00
Check with your lodge about how fees are handled.
Partial Payments
Can You Pay Partially?
Some lodges allow:
- Paying in installments
- Paying what you can afford now
- Paying over several months
Check with your secretary if you need a payment plan.
Making a Partial Payment
If allowed:
- View invoice
- Select “Partial payment” or “Other amount”
- Enter amount you’re paying now
- Complete payment
- Remaining balance stays on your account
Remember:
- You’re still responsible for full amount
- May incur late fees if not paid by due date
- Plan to pay remainder soon
