Use this guide to change your own username, your password, or the role you start in when you log in. It's for anyone who logs in to M2. To help someone else with their account, see Manage Another User's Account.
Before you start
Log in to M2. The menu in Connect has no My Account link. If you also use M2, open that menu and click m2 under My Apps, then start the steps below.
Open your account
- Click your name in the upper right corner of the screen. On a phone or a narrow window, your name isn't in the top bar. Tap the menu icon at the top left, scroll to the bottom of the menu, and tap your name there.
-
Click My Account.
The Site User page opens. The Site User card shows your username, whether your account is enabled, your last login, and your default role. The Permissions card lists your roles.
Change your username, password, or other settings
- Open My Account, as described above.
-
If you have admin access, a red trash can icon may sit next to the pencil. Don't click it: it deletes your account. Click the pencil icon at the top right of the Site User card. The Edit Account screen opens.
-
Change the fields you need. If you're typing a new password, first make sure no one is looking at your screen. Both password boxes show what you type instead of dots. The table below explains each field.
- Click Save.
Groupable takes you back to the Site User page. It doesn't show a confirmation message. A new username or default role shows on the card. If you have admin access, a "Saved" message appears.
Use your new username and password the next time you log in.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Full Name (Last, First) | The name on your account, last name first. For most people, the name at the top of the screen comes from the member record, so this box doesn't change it. |
| Username | 5 to 50 characters with no spaces. Nobody else on your organization's Groupable site can have the same username, and capital letters don't make one different. |
| Password (Optional) | A new password of at least eight characters. Leave the box empty to keep your current password. It's empty when the screen opens. If Groupable shows an error after you click Save, both boxes show the password you typed, so check that no one is looking. |
| Password Confirmation | The new password again. |
| Default User Role | The role you start in each time you log in. The change starts the next time you log in, and the Site User card shows your new choice right away. See Switch Roles and Set Your Default Role. |
| Locale | The two-letter code for your screen language, such as en or es. A new code may not show until the next time you log in. To change the language right away, use the globe icon at the top of the screen. If Groupable doesn't recognize the code, it uses your organization's default language. |
| Account Owner | Appears only if you're an account owner. Leave it checked. Your organization must always have at least one account owner. |
If something goes wrong
- If Username says "not available", someone else on your organization's Groupable site already has that username. Choose another.
- If Username says "no whitespace allowed", take out the spaces. If it says the username "is too short (minimum is 5 characters)" or "is too long (maximum is 50 characters)", change its length.
- If the password "is too short (minimum is 8 characters)", add characters.
- If Groupable says "doesn't match Password", the two password boxes are different. Type the password again in both.
- If you have admin access, a change to Full Name (Last, First) doesn't save. Groupable shows "Saved" and keeps your old name. Your other changes do save.
- If you're looking for "My Return Addresses", that menu item has been removed. To print a return address on envelopes, type it in the Return address box under Envelope Return Address on the Labels, Envelopes, Mail Merge, and Export screen. To reach that screen, build an audience and click Labels and Envelopes below your audience list. The box says it only applies to envelopes.
- If you've forgotten your password, see Reset Your Password When You Can't Log In.
