This guide is for new officers of a local, a district, a region, or a parent group, and for the secretaries who help them. It shows how your access to M2 starts and how to create your login.
You use your own Groupable login. Your access comes from the office you hold. Never use another officer's login, including the old secretary's.
A few words you'll see. Your local is your lodge, chapter, forest, or other local group. Your parent group is the top level of your organization, the body your local belongs to. Some organizations call it a grand body. A Certificate of Election is the form in M2 where your local reports who was elected and the installation date. "Installed" means M2 now lists you as the officer.
Local officers
1. The secretary saves the Certificate of Election
The secretary fills in the Certificate of Election and clicks Save. Saving sends it to your parent group. There's no separate submit step. Your parent group's office can also fill it in for your local. The status now shows New. For the steps, see Add Certificate Of Election (update Local Officers).
2. Your parent group approves it
What happens next depends on the installation date on the certificate.
- If the date is today or earlier, approving it installs the new officers right away. The status shows Installed.
- If the date is later, the status shows Approved. M2 doesn't install the officers on that date by itself. On or after the installation date, the secretary or the parent group clicks Install Now.
- If your parent group rejects it, the status shows Rejected. Ask your parent group's office what to change.
Don't click Install Now before the installation date. Installing ends the outgoing officers' access right away.
To check the status, open your local's dashboard and look for the Open Certificate Of Election card.
3. Log in, or create your login
Once you're installed, your access depends on your office. Your parent group decides which offices come with access to M2. If yours doesn't, you can still use Connect if your organization has it.
If you already have a Groupable login (for example, for Connect):
- Log in as usual.
- Your new office's access is added when you log in.
- If you now have more than one role, see Switch Roles and Set Your Default Role.
If you don't have a login yet:
- Look for an email with the subject "Create Your Account on groupable", or a text message from Groupable. Not every office sends one.
- If you got one, click Create your Account in the email, or tap the link in the text.
- If you didn't, open your organization's Groupable site and click Create your log in account.
- Follow Create Your Groupable Account.
Your member record needs a working email address or phone number. If it has neither, ask your secretary to add one. Your secretary can also send you an invitation from your member record. See Invite a Member to Create an Account or Reset a Password.
Need access before you're installed?
The current secretary can give you access early. This is how a new secretary often starts learning the job.
- The secretary adds you as an additional local user. The steps are in Add Additional Local Users (Subordinate Roles) in groupable|m2.
- Adding you doesn't send an invitation. Create your login as in step 3 above, or ask the secretary to invite you from your member record.
- This access has no end date. After you're installed, the secretary should remove it unless you still need it.
Parent group, region, and district officers
Your parent group's office records you on its officers screen. There's no Certificate of Election for these offices.
- If your office comes with access to M2, you may get an email or text inviting you to create your login. Follow it, or use Create Your Groupable Account.
- If you already have a login, you won't get an invitation. Your new access is added the next time you log in. If you now have more than one role, see Switch Roles and Set Your Default Role.
Don't know your Groupable site address?
Each organization has its own Groupable site address. It's in the invitation email if you got one. If not, ask your secretary or another officer of your organization, or email support@groupable.com.
