M2 and Connect run in a web browser on a computer, tablet, or phone. Read this if M2 or Connect looks broken in your browser, or before you set up a new computer or phone.
Use an up-to-date browser
Use the current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari, and keep it updated. M2 and Connect are built for current browsers and use features that older versions don't have.
M2 doesn't check which browser you're using, so it can't warn you if yours is too old.
Internet Explorer doesn't work with M2 or Connect. Its icon is a blue letter e with a gold ring. If that's the icon you click to get on the internet, switch to one of the browsers above. If you need to install a new browser, ask whoever looks after your computer.
Check your browser settings
| Setting | What happens without it |
|---|---|
| JavaScript turned on | The menu doesn't open, pop-up boxes don't appear, and many buttons do nothing. |
| Cookies allowed for your organization's site | M2 and Connect can't keep you logged in. |
| Access to other websites | Icons, including the menu icon, may not appear, along with country flags and maps, and keyboard shortcuts in M2 stop working. |
A cookie is a small note your browser stores. M2 and Connect use one to remember that you're logged in.
If an office or library network blocks other websites, ask whoever runs that network.
If a report won't print or download, your browser may be blocking it. See Can't get a report to print? Allowing Multiple File Downloads in Your Browser.
Phones and tablets
M2 and Connect screens resize to fit a phone or tablet.
You can add Connect to your phone's home screen so it opens like an app. Install App appears only in the Connect menu on a phone-sized screen, so you won't see it on an iPad. M2 doesn't have it.
On an iPhone, Install App shows whenever you open Connect in your browser, even if you've already added Connect to your home screen. It's hidden only when you open Connect from its home-screen icon. On other phones, it appears only when your browser offers to install Connect.
-
Open your organization's Connect page in your phone's browser. If M2 opens instead, tap the grid of squares at the top right, then tap Connect.
-
Hold your phone upright, then tap the menu icon at the top left.
-
Tap Install App.
-
If your browser shows its own install question, confirm it. On an iPhone, the App installation instructions box opens instead. Follow its three steps: tap Share, choose Add to Home Screen, and tap Add.
Language
M2 and Connect tell your browser not to translate their pages. The login screen and the screens for creating an account and resetting a password don't, so your browser may offer to translate those. To choose a language, see Change the language in Use the Menus to Get Around in M2.
