This guide is for members who have never had a Groupable account. You create the account yourself, then enable it with a link that Groupable sends to the email addresses and phone numbers on your member record.
Before you start
You need three things.
- Your member number, or an email address that's on your member record. A member number typically starts with a letter, is 7 characters long, and is printed on your dues card.
- At least one email address or cell phone number on your member record. Groupable sends your welcome message there. A text message can only reach a cell phone. If your record has neither, ask your local group's secretary to add one.
- An active membership that qualifies for an account. For who qualifies, see Give a Member Access to M2 and Connect.
If an officer invited you, the Create your Account button in the invitation email, or the link in the invitation text message, opens the sign-up screen with your member number already filled in. You can start at step 5.
Create your account
- Open your organization's Groupable site. Each organization has its own site, so use the address your organization gave you.
- If you land on a Connect page instead of a login screen, click sign in / create account at the top right of the page. On a phone, tap the person icon there instead. You can also click the Sign In / Create Account button on the page.
-
On the login screen, click Create your log in account.
-
Click the Email or Member Number box and type your member number. If you don't have it, type an email address that's on your member record instead.
-
Click the Pick a username box and type the username you want. It needs 5 to 50 characters with no spaces, and no one else on your organization's site can already have it.
- Click the Password box and type a password of at least 8 characters. The screen suggests a mix of letters and numbers.
- Click the Confirm Password box and type the same password again.
- Read the two notes near the button. The note above it says that clicking Create Account sends an email and a text message to the contact information on your member record. The smaller note below it says that by clicking, you agree to receive text messages about creating or recovering your account and other information, and that message and data rates apply. Then click Create Account.
Groupable then shows the Activate Your Account screen. That screen says "Please check your email or text messages for a link to enable your account." and lists where the message went.
Enable your account
Your account doesn't work until you enable it.
- Open your welcome message. The email has the subject "Welcome to groupable" and comes from support@moriapp.com. The text message starts with "Click link to enable your account" and gives a link.
- Click Enable your Account in the email, or the link in the text message.
- Groupable opens the login screen with "Account Enabled" at the top.
- Log in with the username and password you created. The steps are in Log In for the First Time.
The link works one time. If you click it again, Groupable takes you to the login screen.
If the welcome message doesn't arrive
Wait a few minutes, then try these in order.
- Check your junk, spam, and trash folders for a message from support@moriapp.com. Add that address to your contacts so later messages reach your inbox. See How to Safelist the system emails?.
- If you're still on the Activate Your Account screen, click Resend Welcome Message.
- Ask your local group's secretary, or your parent group's office, to click Resend Welcome Message in the User Account section of your member record. See Invite a Member to Create an Account or Reset a Password.
The Activate Your Account screen lists only the email addresses and phone numbers Groupable sent to. Groupable skips an email address that's marked as not working. The list shows every phone number on your record, including home phones, fax numbers, and numbers marked invalid. Groupable texts all of them, but only a cell phone can receive the text. If the list is missing an address or number you expected, or shows one that's out of date, ask your local group's secretary to correct your member record.
If you think you once marked a Groupable email as spam, see Why am I not receiving emails?.
If the Create Your Account screen shows an error
| What the screen says | What to do |
|---|---|
| "You already have an account" (you land on the login screen) | An account already exists for your member record. Log in. If you don't know the username or the password, follow Reset Your Password When You Can't Log In using your member number. The reset email shows your username. |
| "You already have an account awaiting activation" (you land on the Activate Your Account screen) | An account for your member record was started earlier but never enabled. Click Resend Welcome Message, then follow "Enable your account" above. The account keeps the username and password it was created with, not the ones you typed on the sign-up screen. The welcome email shows that username. If you don't recognize the username, or you don't remember the password, enable the account, then reset your password right away with Reset Your Password When You Can't Log In. |
| A message under the first box that includes "not an active member" | Groupable can't match what you typed to an active member. Check the member number on your dues card. If you typed an email address, try your member number instead. The screen gives this same message when no member has that email address and when more than one member does. If the number is right, your membership may not be active. Ask your local group's secretary. |
| A message that includes "does not have email or phone number of file" | Your member record has no email address or phone number. Ask your local group's secretary to add an email address or cell phone number, then try again. |
| A message that includes "not eligible for an account" | Your membership doesn't qualify for an account right now. Ask your local group's secretary. |
| A username message that says "not available" | Someone on your organization's site already has that username. Pick another. |
| A username message that says "no whitespace allowed" | Take the spaces out of your username. |
| A message about your username or password length | A username needs 5 to 50 characters. A password needs at least 8. |
| A message about your password confirmation | Type the same password in both password boxes. |
