How to Set Up Your Connect Profile
Your Connect profile is how other members see you on the platform. Filling it in with a current photo and accurate information helps fellow members recognize and connect with you.
What’s on Your Profile Page
Your profile page (My Profile) has several sections:
- Photos – one or more pictures of you
- Bio Data – your name, birth information, gender, occupation, and spouse information
- Contact Info – your addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses
- groupable|connect Privacy Settings – who can see your photo, name, phone, and email
- My Local Memberships – a read-only list of your affiliations and dues status
- My Timeline, My Offices, and My Payments – a read-only history of events, offices held, and payments made
Steps to Set Up Your Profile
Step 1: Log In to Connect
Go to your organization’s Connect page and log in with your username and password.
Step 2: Go to Your Profile
Open the menu and click My Profile.
Step 3: Add a Profile Photo
Why add a photo? A photo helps other members recognize you and makes the community more personal.
To add a photo:
- In the Photos section, click your current picture (or the default silhouette if you haven’t added one yet).
- Click the plus (+) icon, or click Upload Now if you have no photos yet.
- Drag and drop a photo onto the upload area, or click Browse to choose one from your computer. You can select more than one photo at a time.
- Click Upload.
You can add more than one photo. Whichever one is marked Current Default is the picture other members see on your profile and throughout Connect.
Step 4: Fill In Your Bio Data
- In the Bio Data section, click the pencil (edit) icon.
- Fill in or correct your information:
| Field | What to Enter |
|---|---|
| Prefix / Suffix | Titles such as Mr., Mrs., Jr., Sr. |
| First, Middle, Last Name | Your legal name |
| Preferred Name | The name you’d like other members to call you |
| Birth Date, Birth City, Birth Country | Your birth information |
| Gender | Select from the available options |
| Occupation | Your job or profession |
| Spouse First Name, Preferred Name, Birthday | Information about your spouse, if applicable |
- Click Save.
Notice something wrong that you can’t fix here (such as your member number, years in good standing, or local affiliation)? These come from your official member record. Contact your local secretary or parent group to have them corrected.
Step 5: Review and Add Contact Information
- In the Contact Info section, review the addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses on file.
- Click the menu icon in the corner of the Contact Info card to add a home address, cell phone, land line, email, or other contact method, depending on what you’re allowed to add.
- To edit an existing entry, click the pencil icon next to it.
Step 6: Set Your Privacy Settings
In the groupable|connect Privacy Settings section, choose who can see your photo, name, phone number, and email address:
- In Connect – visible to other logged-in members
- Publicly – visible to the public on pages Connect shows to visitors
See Understanding Privacy Settings for more detail.
